With over twenty years of experience in education as a teacher, administrator, academic, and researcher, Nina blends rigorous inquiry with effective action, leading teams of educators, families, and youth in designing, implementing, and strengthening systems that drive improved academic, cultural, and social outcomes for young people.
Nina’s career began as an elementary school teacher in the South Bronx and has since encompassed roles such as middle school Assistant Principal, Director of Special Education, Literacy Specialist, DEI Specialist and Consultant for numerous education and education-adjacent organizations. She has worked with numerous schools (K-12) on developing and adopting curriculum in literacy and the humanities, created an award-winning Speech and Debate program, and served as an expert on various panels related to LGBTQ+ young people and schooling. Throughout her professional journey, Nina has consistently prioritized diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) work, advocating tirelessly for equitable outcomes for all young people.
Nina holds a Masters of Philosophy in Teaching and Learning, with a specialization in Literacy & Urban Education, from New York University, a Masters of Art in Elementary Education from Bank Street College, and is currently a Doctoral Candidate in Teaching and Learning at New York University. She is trained and certified as an International Baccalaureate Educator and a teacher and school building administrator (K-12) in New York and New Jersey.
